The short answer

How much does Base44 cost?

Base44 is free to start, with 25 message credits and 100 integration credits a month. Paid plans are Starter at $20 a month ($16 billed yearly), Builder at $50 ($40), Pro at $100 ($80) and Elite at $200 ($160). Taking payments, GitHub sync and app store files need Builder or higher.

What are the Base44 pricing plans?

Base44 sells five plans: Free, Starter, Builder, Pro and Elite, plus Enterprise at a custom price. Each plan gives you two monthly allowances: message credits for building with the AI, and integration credits for what your live app does. Prices below are from the Base44 pricing page as of October 2026.

Base44’s FAQ says yearly billing saves 20% on every paid plan, applied to the monthly price times twelve. Two perks only appear on yearly plans: a free domain for one year (Starter and up) and 25 credits to share with a friend (Builder and up). On monthly billing you can still connect a domain you own.

Every plan, including Free, comes with the backend: a database, sign-in and user management, file storage, a visual editor, an analytics dashboard and multi-user editing.

Is Base44 free?

Yes, Base44 has a free plan with no credit card needed. You get 25 message credits a month, but Base44’s credits docs cap use at 5 a day, so you can’t spend the month in one evening. Daily credits reset at midnight in the workspace owner’s time zone.

The free plan also includes 100 integration credits, up to 5 apps, sign-in, a database and analytics. That is enough to build and test a small app. It is not enough to sell one: there is no custom domain and no payments on Free.

What do Base44 credits actually cost?

A message credit costs about 16 to 20 cents on every plan up to Pro. Divide the plan price by its message credits and Starter, Builder and Pro all come to $0.20 on monthly billing and $0.16 on yearly. Only Elite is cheaper per credit, at about $0.17 monthly and $0.13 yearly. Bigger plans mostly buy more integration credits and features, not cheaper building.

There is no fixed number of credits per message. Base44 says short, focused prompts use less, and prompts that touch several pages use more. Discuss mode, where you talk through ideas without changing the app, costs about 0.3 credits a message.

Integration credits pay for Base44’s built-in services when your users use the app. These are Base44’s own approximate rates:

Action in your appIntegration credits

AI call on another modelFrom about 3 per call

EmailAbout 1, or about 2 from a custom domain
AutomationAbout 1 per 10 steps, plus actions inside it

What costs extra on Base44?

The biggest hidden cost is the plan jump. If you want to sell, the real starting price is Builder, not Starter. Here is what to budget for:

  • Payments need Builder or higher. That covers Base44 Payments, powered by Wix, and Stripe. Base44 Payments only works for businesses in 12 countries, including the US, UK and Germany; elsewhere you use Stripe, which starts in a test sandbox you claim within 60 days.
  • Payment fees: Base44 Payments charges Wix’s service fees, and Stripe charges its own. Base44’s docs don’t list a Base44 fee on payments.
  • App store files need Builder. Base44 wraps your web app in a native shell; you pay Apple $99 a year and Google $25 once for the developer accounts.
  • GitHub sync needs Builder, and the code still depends on Base44’s backend.
  • Third-party services you connect, such as SendGrid or OpenAI with your own keys, bill you directly.
  • Extra credits: Base44’s docs describe top-ups for message or integration credits, but no top-up price is published.

Base44 review: is it worth the money?

Base44 is good value for building a web app with a backend fast, and weaker value once you sell to many users. Strengths and weaknesses, from its own docs:

StrengthsWeaknesses
Cheapest paid plan of the ten builders in our pricing index: $16 a month yearlyPayments, GitHub and app store files all wait for the $40 Builder plan
Database, sign-in and analytics on every plan, even FreeCredits expire monthly, and price per message credit barely drops until Elite
AI inside your app with no API keysIf integration credits run out, app features fail for your users
Built-in payments in 12 countries, or Stripe anywhere it worksApp store apps wrap the web app rather than being fully native

Base44 strengths and weaknesses

Public reviews are mixed. On Trustpilot, Base44 scored 2.7 out of 5 from 911 reviews when we checked on October 23, 2026. Recurring complaints are credits draining when the AI loops on a fix, billing and refund disputes, slow support and store apps that are web wrappers. Recurring praise is how quickly non-programmers get a working app. Treat this as user sentiment, not a measured result.

Which Base44 plan should you pick?

Pick the plan by what you need to do, not by how many credits you think you need. For most people that is Free to test, then Builder to sell.

Which Base44 plan fits

Going yearly saves 20%, but only commit once you know the app will last: changes take effect at the next billing cycle. If payments are the point, compare Base44 with Lovable, whose built-in payments start on its $21 plan, in our Base44 vs Lovable comparison.

How does Base44 pricing compare with other AI app builders?

Base44 has the cheapest entry plan of the builders we checked, but not the cheapest way to take payments. Lovable lets you connect your own Stripe key even on its free plan. For another builder’s costs, see Replit pricing.
